Though the scope has since been reduced significantly, the original intent for the renovation and rebranding of the French Quarter’s Bourbon Orleans hotel into Maison Mere included the addition of a lobby bar, pool bar, and cafe. The design celebrated the local charm of the city, as well as the past of the historic building itself which was initially New Orleans’ first orphanage and convent for women of color. I worked directly with the owners and principal designers of Whitespace Interiors to put together beautiful spaces with deep jewel tones, patinated and layered finishes, ornate architectural details, and local antique items.
